Private James Scott

Private James Scott, 2nd Battalion, Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) . He died on Active Service, aged 25, in France on April 17th 1917 and is buried in Bray Military Cemetery, Somme, France.  He had been born in Coldingham, and was the son of Peter and Jane Scott of Comely Bank, Reston. Before being mobilised he worked as an assistant gamed dealer with his Grandfather. He originally served with the 6th Battalion, K.O.S.B. before being transferred into the Cameronians. In France he contracted pneumonia and died in the 48th casualty Clearing Station in Bray.
