Flying Officer William Dewar

Flying Officer William Ramsay Dewar, 355 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He died on 28th September 1946 of wounds received in action aged 23. He was the son of  Duncan and Maggie Bell of Chirnside and is buried in Chirnside Kirkyard. The Squadron flew the B24 Consolidated Liberator on bombing raids on Japanese targets in Burma and was based in R.A.F. Salbani, Bengal, India.
