Trooper William Dods

Trooper William Dods, 1st/3rd Scottish Horse Yeomanry. He died on Service in the University War Hospital, Southampton, aged 21, on the 23rd November 1915. He had been born in Traquair and was the son of Peter and Annie Dods of Peel Lodge, Clovenfords, Caddonfoot. Before enlisting he had been employed as a gamekeeper at Haddington. He wnt with the Regiment to Suvla Bay, Gallipoli where he contracted dysentery and was evacuated to Southampton where he died. The photos show British troops at Suvla.
