Private David Cook Ferguson, 12th ( Service ) Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. He died from wounds in France, aged 20, on the 28th October 1915. He had been born in Coalsnaughton, Tillycoultry and was the son of William and Margaret Ferguson of Peebles. Before enlisting in September 1914 he had been employed as a gardener at the Clovenfords Vineries. He went to France in September 1915 but was fatally wounded only one month later and died in the 15th Field Ambulance. he is buried in Citadel New Military Cemetery, Fricourt, Somme, France.
