Sergeant William Miller Welsh, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He was lost on Air Operations over Europe on 3rd August 1943, aged 27,with 9 Squadron R.A.F. He was the son of Alexander and Mary Welsh of Tweedmouth and is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial. At that time the Squadron was part of Bomber Command Main Force and flew the Avro Lancaster heavy bomber from R.A.F. Bardney, Lincolnshire.
