Private William Hope

Private William Hope, 18th ( Queen Mary’s Own ) Hussars. He was killed in France on 27th January 1916, aged 20. He was the son of Robert and Agnes Hope of Dunstan Steads, Embleton, Alnwick and is buried in Quarry Cemetery, Vermelles, Pas de Calais, France. This cemetery contains many graves of the dismounted cavalry units who served in this sector in 1915 and 1916. His Headstone is inscribed ” Nothing In My Hands I Bring Simply To The Cross I Cling”.
