Private Thomas Lowe

Private Thomas William Lowe, 3rd Battalion, Coldstream Guards. He was killed in action in France on 13th October 1915 during the Battle of Loos and is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, Dud Corner, Loos, France. At that time the Battalion was in action near the Hohenzollern Redoubt in order to consolidate earlier gains. Some days earlier in the Battle Sergeant Brooks had won the Regiment’s third Victoria Cross of the War. The photo shows shells bursting on the Hoenzollern Redoubt.
