Second Lieutenant John Simpson

Second Lieutenant John Parker Norfolk Simpson, 5th ( Special Reserve ) Battalion, Royal Fusiliers att. 3rd Battalion, Royal Fusiliers. He died from wounds in Belgium during the Battle of Festubert on 27th May 1915, aged 25. He was the son of James and Louisa Simpson of Alnwick and is buried in Harlebeke New British Cemetery, Flanders, Belgium. He had been educated at Malvern College  and on the outbreak of War had joined the Public School Battalion as a Private. He was commissioned in January 1915 and was sent to France. He had been wounded on the 24th May and was taken prisoner, dying from his wounds at Iseghem, Belgium. The photographs were taken during the Battle.
