Aircraftman 2nd Class James Borthwick, Royal Air Force. He died in Belgium after the Armistice on 9th May 1919, aged 17. He was the son of Johnston and Eleanor Borthwick of 71 Low Greens, Berwick and is buried in Mons ( Bergen ) Communal Cemetery, Mons, Belgium. He had served with 25 Squadron R.A.F who flew the D.H.4 bomber as pictured below. His father was a fisherman on the Berwick fishing boat called the “Nellie Wilson”. His mother was Eleanor Jane Stephenson and his brother John Stevenson Borthwick died in 1999 in Southend on Sea.
