Captain Henry J. F. Newbould

Captain Henry J .F. Newbould, 6th ( Service ) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He was killed by a sniper on 2nd August, 1915 whilst on observation post duty and is buried in Le Touret Military Cemetery, Richebourg-L’Avoue, France. At that time the Battalion were in trenches on the La Bassee Canal and suffered some casualties from sniping and shelling. Earlier in life he had served as a regular officer resigning his commission in 1900. He had been a director of the Border Brewery in the intervening period.
