Fusilier Alan Burnett, 9th Battalion, Royal Northumberland Fusiliers. He died of cholera in Tonchan Central Camp in Thailand on 19th July 1943, aged 29, whilst a Prisoner of War of the Japanese. He was the son of Moses and Ellen Burnett of Berwick and is buried in Kanchanburi War Cemetery, Thailand. Many members of the Battalion became P.O.W.s at the fall of Singapopre on 15th February 1942.
