Private Robert Gladstone, 47th Battalion Canadian Infantry (Western Ontario Regiment). He died in France on 1st November, 1918 aged 34 during the ” Advance to Victory ” and is commemorated in Aulnoy Communal; Cemetery, France. He was born in Berwick-on-Tweed and was the husband of Esther Gladstone of 2 Cowdrait, Burnmouth, Berwickshire. His Headstone is inscribed ” Ever Remembered”. The photographs show the Allied troops advancing after the retreating Germans during the final 100 days of the War. The final image shows Canadian troops entering the town of Mons where the British Army had fought its first action on the 23rd August 1914. The wheel had come full circle.
