Sergeant Thomas Gibson

Sergeant Thomas Aidan Gibson, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He was a Navigator with 640 Squadron R.A.F. and died on 2nd February 1945, aged 21, of wounds received on Air Operations. He was the son of Thomas John and Catherine Gibson of Bamburgh and is buried in Bamburgh ( St. Aidan ) Churchyard. 640 Squadron was part of 4 Group Bomber Command and flew the Handley Page Halifax from R.A.F. Leconfield, Yorkshire in Operations over Europe. His Headstone is inscribed ” Also His Father Thomas John Gibson 26th September 1943 Age 54 My Husband And Son “.
