Second Lieutenant Guy Askew James Burdon- Sanderson, 9th ( Service ) Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers. He died in France on 21st February 1917 from wounds received in action , aged 19. He was the younger son of Katherine and the late Richard Burdon -Sanderson of Bamburgh and is buried in St Sever Cemetery, Rouen. His headstone is inscribed ” Quo Fata Vocant Clarior ex Obscurio” ( Quo Fata Vocant is the motto of the Regiment and means “Whither the Fates Call “
