Able Seaman William Anderson

Able Seaman William Anderson, Merchant Navy. He was lost at sea aboard the S.S. “Crichtoun” on 18-19th March 1945, age 30. He was the son of Hendry and Helen Anderson and the husband of Janet Anderson of Eyemouth. He is commemorated on the Tower Hill Memorial, London. The “Crichtoun” was a general cargo steamship of 1097 tons and had been built in 1920 by John Cran & Co. of Leith. She was sunk by a torpedo from German E-Boats with 22 of her crew of 25 lost.
