Private Robert Chapman

Private Robert Topping Chapman, 1/4th ( Border ) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He was killed in action on 25th September 1918 and is buried in Queant Communal Cemetery, British Extension. He fell whilst the Battalion were holding trenches in the Moeuvres sector whilst awaiting the attack on the last of the German defences, the Hindenburg Line.  He had been born in Ayton and had enlisted there.
