Leading Aircraftman John Renwick

Leading Aircraftman John James Renwick, Royal Airforce Volunteer Reserve. He was killed in action as a member of 290 Squadron, R.A.F. Regiment on 3rd October 1943 during operations in the Dodecanese Islands aged 22.  He was the son of John and Mary Renwick, The Kennels, Ayton castle, Ayton and is buried in Rhodes War Cemetery. The Squadron took part in the invasion of the island of Kos in September 1943 together with their Anti Aircraft Artillery in support of the Durham Light Infantry. His Headstone is inscribed ” Peace Through The Blood Of The Cross. The Gift Of God Is Eternal Life”.
