Corporal George Redpath, 7/8th Battalion Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died of wounds in 41 Casualty Clearing Station in France on 29th March 1917, aged 34. He was the son of William Redpath of Moffat House, Ayton and the husband of Agnes Redpath, Old Town, Ayton and is buried in Duisans British Cemetery, Etrun, France. He had been a member of the old Berwickshire Volunteers and the Territorial Force for a total of 18 years Many cups had come his way as a marksman and the 1910 and 1911 trophies had ben presented to him by Captain Andrew Wallace of Coldstream. Before the war he had worked with Mr Swanson as a mason. He had worked with and had been a pal of his son Peter ( see below) in the Battalion and they both died in the same C.C.S. within days of each other. He was an officebearer in the United Free Church and left 3 children.
