Private George Collin

Private George Collin, 1st/5th ( Territorial ) Battalion ( City of Glasgow ) Highland Light Infantry. He was killed in action in Palestine on 1st December 1917 aged 31. He was the son of Mrs G. Collin of Cowdrait, Burnmouth and is buried in Ramleh War Cemetery, Palestine. He fell defending the line from Tahta to Hellebi against fierce Turkish counter attacks where the Battalion lost 6 men killed and 16 wounded. 1st/5th H.L.I. was part of the 157th Brigade in the 52nd Lowland Division.
