Private James Scott

Private James Scott, 214th Coy. Machine Gun Corps. He died in Belgium on 5th September 1917, aged 23, from wounds received in action during the Third Battle of Ypres. He was the son of Thomas and Ellen Scott of Ancrum and is buried in Dozinghem Military Cemetery, Flanders, Belgium. He had originally enlisted in the Kings Own Scottish Borderers. The M.G.C. used the Vickers Mk.11 water cooled gun in both offensive and defensive roles. The photos show troops during the Battle.
