Private Adam Weatherstone

Private Adam Weatherstone, “D” Coy. 11th Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.  He died in a Casualty Clearing Station in France on 21st September 1916, aged 20, from wounds received in action during the Battle of the Somme. He was the son of George and Margaret Weatherstone of Wellrigg, St. Boswells and is buried in Dernacourt Communal Cemetery Extension., Somme, France. His Headstone is inscribed ” Until The Day Break “. The photograph shows a recently captured trench on the Somme with the chalky soil of the Region very evident.
