Private Adam Weatherstone

Private Adam Weatherstone, “D” Coy. 11th ( Service ) Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.  He died in a Casualty Clearing Station at Dernacourt, Albert in France on 21st September 1916, aged 20, from wounds received in action during the Battle of the Somme. He had been born in Ancrum and was the son of George and Margaret Weatherstone of Wellrigg, St. Boswells and is buried in Dernacourt Communal Cemetery Extension., Somme, France. His Headstone is inscribed ” Until The Day Break “. The photograph shows Scottish troops on the Somme and the colour photo shows a part of the Battlefield as it looks today with ” no gas, no barbed wire, no guns firing now”.
