Erected by GEORGE LYLE Weaver Coldstream. The said GEORGE LYLE died at Hirsel 5 January 1842 aged 63 years.

Also MARY wife who died 25 February 1843 aged 67 years. In memory of his daughter PHILLIS who  died 16 May 1817 aged 16 years.

Also JOHN his son who died aged 11 months Also GEORGE ANDERSON son in law Drum Major in Berwickshire Militia died 6 October 1825 aged 28 years.

Commentary

George Lyle was born in Berwickshire, his occupation recorded as a Laborer and he lived at the Hirsel. His wife Mary is recorded as born in Scotland
