Military record
Private Peter Purves, 12th Battalion, Highland Light Infantry. He was killed in action in France on 24th April 1917 during the battle of Arras and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, Arras, France. He was born in Berwick-upon-Tweed and had originally enlisted there in the Kings Own Scottish Borderers before later being transferred into the H.L.I. Before enlisting he had lived in Coldstream. ( The Ladykirk Memorial shows his Regiment as the K.O.S.B. ).
