In loving memory of MARY JANE HARBOTTLE dearly beloved wife of JAMES ALEXANDER of Ford who died 11 February 1910 aged 46 years. JOHN their eldest son & beloved
husband of ELIZABETH HENRY presumed killed November 14 1916 aged 30 years. WILLIAM JAMES their youngest son was drowned at Doddington Quarry May 3 1919 aged 20
years. The above JAMES ALEXANDER who died at Ford February 11 1947 aged 83 years.

Military record
Lance Corporal John Alexander, 1/7th Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers. He was killed in action in France during the Battle of the Somme on 14th November 1916, aged 31. He was the husband of Elizabeth J. Alexander of Branxton, Cornhill on Tweed and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Thiepval, France. 1/7th Battalion was part of the 149th Brigade in the 50th ( Northumbrian ) Division.
