In loving memory of JAMES son of  WILLIAM & AGNES ALEXANDER   who died at Akeld Stead May 1 1916 aged 25 years. GEORGE their son who fell in action in France February 10
1917 aged 20 years. WILLIAM their son who died at Nesbit June 18 1923 aged 22 years.
The above named AGNES ALEXANDER who died July 24 1944 aged 76 years. Also the
above WILLIAM ALEXANDER who died March 21 1950 aged 82 years.

Military record

Private George Alexander, 2nd Battalion, Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. He was killed in action in France on 10th February 1917 and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Thiepval, Somme, France. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Alexander of Farm Cottages, Lowick and before enlisting he had been employed by Ronald Barber of Lowick Hall, Lowick as a farm labourer.
