In memory of HENRY BAKER TRISTRAM M.A.formerly student of Christ Church Oxford youngest son of the rev. THOMAS TRISTRAM and the hon LOUISA BARRINGTON,and sixteen years Vvicar of this parish. Awakened by the influences of the Holy Spiritshortly before his entrance at the universityto a scriptural sense of the evil of sin and of the exceeding riches of the grace of god in his kindness towards sinners through christ jesus he maintained by divine assistance an unsullied conduct during his collegiate courseand entered into the sacred office of the ministry with the one aim and endof turning sinners from satan unto god and building up believers on their most holy faith. presented to this vicarage by his reverend relative the hon. SHUTE BARRINGTON, d. d. lord bishop of the diocesehe sought the welfare of the souls committed to his care as one who should give an account of his stewardship to god. he preached christ and him crucified as the sole and all sufficient ground of a sinners hope and enforced the necessity of the regeneration of the heart by the power of the holy ghost. ardently attached to the church of england he zealously promoted its truest interests, a holy courage and godly sincerity were the distinguishing characteristicsof this ministry and his life.he entered into the joy of his lord on Ttuesday may XXX MDCCCXXXVII in the XLII year of his age. this tribute of respect was erected by two hundred and forty two of his parishioners.
