Commentary

Nicholas Swan worked on the roads as a road contractor. In 1901 his mother in  law was living with them she was called Sarah Douglas aged 81 born in Norham. They had two sons Thomas  born about 1885 who was a railway clerk and Nicholas born 1883 who was a Roadman. All born in Donaldsons Lodge
