Commentary
This information was given to us by Claire Grey from London
I have found him and his family on the 1841 census for Old Heaton: John Grey farmer, aged 60, Margaret Grey 50, John Grey 25 William 15 Mary 15 and James 12. This seems to be the correct family since he is called “Farmer” and everyone else is described as an “Ag lab”. and the names and ages seem to fit.
His brother William emigrated to New Zealand and I am now in contact with his descendants there. I have a copy of a painting of his sister.
This is her web site with lots more information.
