Military record

Flying Officer John Norman Craigie R.A.F. kIA 15th June 1941 in Syria Flying against the Vichy French. Buried in Damascus Commonwealth War Cemetery. Funnily enough site does not give his Squadron number. At 35 he was a bit old for a pilot so must assume he was a regular airman.

Further info on Craigie. On 15th June he was on patrol with two comrades in their Gloster Gladiators ( biplanes ) over Kissoue, Iraq when they were bounced by three Frogs in their Dewoitine fighters. Craigie was shot down immediately and crashed near Ezraa  Two of the French had to crash land.
