Erected by W^m & ISABELLA SHORT, in Memory of JAMES STRAUGHAN SHORT their Son who died at Hedgeley Cottages 10^th  Sept 1885, aged 17 Years Also The Above W^m SHORT who died at West Hedgeley Cottages 14^th Dec 1925 aged 86 Years. Also of ISABELLA wife of the above W^m SHORT, who died at West Hedgeley Cottages 21^st Jan 1930 aged 90 Years
