Private Adam Scott

Private Adam Scott, 7th ( Service ) Battalion, Cameron Highlanders. He was killed in action in Belgium, aged 37, on the 2nd August 1917 during the Battle of Third Ypres. He had been born in Kirk Yetholm and was the son of the late John Scott and Jane Scott of Kirk Yetholm. He was a journeyman tailor to trade, was the husband of Catherine Scott and when he enlisted he was living with her in Lochboisedale, South Uist. He is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Flanders, Belgium. The Battalion was part of the 44th Brigade in the 15th ( Scottish ) Division and took part in all the major Battles on the Western Front after its arrival in France in July 1915.
