Private John Nesbit

Private John Nesbit, 1st/8th ( Territorial ) Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers. He died in France, aged 19, on the 1st October 1918 from wounds suffered during the ” Advance to Victory”. He had been born at Newton and was the son of John and Margaret Nesbitt of West Newton, Kirknewton, Northumberland. He had originally enlisted in the Sherwood Foresters ( Notts & Derby Regiment ) but had been transferred into the Fusiliers. He is buried in Grevillers British Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France where his Headstone is inscribed ” Thy Will Be Done”. The photos show Allied troops advancing during the final 100 days of the War.
