Rifleman John Renton

Rifleman John William Renton, 8th ( Service ) Battalion, Royal Irish Rifles. He was killed in action in Belgium on 3rd August 1917, aged 23, during the Battle of Third Ypres. He was the son of Ralph and Margaret Renton of Chillingham, Alnwick and is commemorated on the Menin Gate, Ypres, Flanders, Belgium. The photos show troops during the earl stages of the Battle
