Private Alexander Amos

Private Alexander Amos, 9th ( Service) Battalion, Cameronians ( Scottish Rifles. He died from wounds, aged 26, on the 14th April 1917 in the 1st Canadian Casualty Clearing Station near Aubigny-en-Artois. He had been born in Ettrick and was the son of the late John Amos and Eliza Amos of Old Lewinshope, Yarrow and Nether Tofts ,Hawick and is buried in Aubigny Communal Cemetery Extension, Aubigny, France. It is likely he was wounded during the Battle of Arras which opened on the 9th April 1917 and the photos show British troops at Arras during the Battle.
