Private T. Allan

Private T. W. Allan, 42nd Battalion ( Royal Highlanders of Canada), Canadian Infantry. He died in France on 29th August 1917 of wounds received in action during the Third Battle of Ypres and is buried in Aix Noulette Communal Cemetery Extension, Pas de Calais, France. He was the son of the late Walter Allan, joiner of Ramsay Lane, Wooler and took over the business on the death of his father. A keen member of the Cheviot Street Church choir he emigrated to Canada in 1912 where in Calgary he joined the Canadian Mounted Rifles, a Territorial unit. Whilst training in the south of England he had twice returned to Wooler on visits to friends and relations.
