Gunner Alexander Ross, 10th Mountain Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. He died of malaria in Palestine on 21st October 1918, aged 23. He was the son of Alexander and Sophia Ross of Swinton and is buried in Haifa War Cemetery, Palestine. He had two brothers serving, Peter who was with the K.O.S.B. in France and James who was an Air Mechanic in England. His Headstone is Inscribed” Till The Day Break And The Shadows Flee Away”. The Battery use the 3.7 howitzer.
