Private Thomas Forster

Private Thomas Andrew Forster, 1st Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers. He was killed in action in Belgium on 1st November 1914 during the First Battle of Ypres aged 29. He was the son of the late Thomas Forster and is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Flanders, Belgium. He was a Regular Soldier and fell in the fierce fighting near Wytschaete where the German advances in that sector were thwarted. The Battalion War Diary lists the casualties on that day as follows-1 Officer killed, 2 wounded and 2 missing. Other Ranks 6 killed, 38 wounded and 39 missing.
