Private Peter Armstrong, 7th ( Service ) Battalion, Cameron Highlanders. He was killed in action in France on 26th September 1915 on the second day of the Battle of Loos, aged 26. He was the son of William and Janet of Heiton, Kelso and is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, Dud Corner, Loos, France. ( 7th Camerons were a Unit in the 15th Scottish Division ). The photograph shows the village of Loos after its capture and the artist’s illustration shows the Camerons in the attack.
