Private Kenneth Morris

Private Kenneth David Morris 53rd (Training ) Battalion, Highland Light Infantry. ( His name is not on the War memorial but is on a plaque in Linton Kirk ). He died on Service in the Auxiliary Military Hospital, Kinghorn, Fife, aged 18, on the 26th October 1918. He had been born in Roscrea, Co. Tipperary, Ireland and was the son of Alexander and Christina Morris of The Lodge, Eckford. He had been employed as a saw-miller and was in training in Fife when he contracted Influenza and died from pneumonia. He is buried in Friockheim Cemetery Angus where his grandfather is also buried. (At that time the deadly “Spanish Flu” epidemic was sweeping the world and is reckoned to have killed at least 50 million persons).
