Private George Bruce Scott, 11th Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. He was killed in action in France on 26th September 1915, aged 20, on the second day of the Battle of Loos. He was the son of William and Agnes Kemp Scott and is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, Dud Corner, Loos, France. He had been born in Selkirk, lived in Newcastleton and had enlisted in Hawick. The photograph shows part of the Loos battlefield looking towards the German trenches where shells are bursting.
