Private George White, 1st/4th ( Border ) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died of disease on Active Service on 27th November 1915 during the Gallipoli campaign, aged 21. He had been born in Lauder and was the son of Isaac and Elizabeth White of Wyndhead Lodge, Lauder and is buried in Porthianos, Military Cemetery, Lemnos, Greece. He had been employed by the North British Railway Company as a surfaceman and was a member of the Territorial K.O.S.B. being mobilised with the Battalion in August 1914 and landing on Gallipoli in June 1915. He had enlisted with his brother John who was killed on the 12th July (see below). George became ill on Gallipoli and was evacuated to Mudros where he died from pneumonia.
