Private William Halliday, 6th ( Service ) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He was killed in action in Belgium on 30th September 1918 during the “Advance to Victory” aged 23. He was the son of William and Agnes Halliday of Lurdenlaw, Kelso and is buried in Dadizele New British Cemetery, Dadizeele, Belgium. He fell during the capture of the village of Dadizeele and the fierce fighting which followed. His Headstone is inscribed ” Gone But Not Forgotten”. The illustrations and photographs show the Allied troops advancing against the retreating German army during the final 100 days of the War.
