Private William Black, 1st/5th ( City of Glasgow ) Battalion, Highland Light Infantry. He was killed in action in France on 24th August 1918 during the “Advance to Victory” aged 20. He was the son of Margaret and the late William Black of Stichill and is commemorated on the Vis-En-Artois Memorial, Pas de Calais, France. The photos show Allied troops advancing against the retreating German army during the final 100 days of the War.
