Private William Redsham Affleck, 6th ( Service ) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died in France on 8th January 1917 of wounds received in action, aged 29. He was the son of Robert and Catherine Affleck of Gateshaw, Morebattle, Roxburghshire and is buried in Fauberg D’ Amiens Cemetery, Arras, France. His Headstone is inscribed ” He Died That We Might Live “. At that period the Battalion were holding front line trenches in the Arras sector and suffered casualties from the intermittent shelling.
