Private William McGuigan, 4th Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died on Service in Scotland, aged 27, on the 13th April 1943. He had been born in Campsie, Stirlingshire and was the son of James and Mary McGuigan of 24 Forthill, Jedburgh. Before enlisting he had been employed by the Jedburgh Co-op as a butcher. By 1943 the Battalion were in the Highlands undergoing mountain training. On the 13th April he was involved in a motor accident near Aberchirder, Banffshire and died from his injuries. He is buried in Castlewood Cemetery, Jedburgh where his Headstone is inscribed ” A Loving Son And A Kind Beautiful Memory Left Behind R.I.P. “.
