Private William Hume

Private William Hume, 2nd Battalion, Scots Guards. He died at home from kidney disease, aged 24, on the 22nd September 1918. He had been born in Jedburgh and was the son of Cecelia and the late Walter Hume of 25 New Bondgate, Jedburgh. He had been a wool sorter when he enlisted in September 1914 and joined his Battalion in France in February 1915. In June 1916 he was evacuated home due to illness and in December 1916 he was discharged from the Army and awarded the Silver War Badge. He is buried in Jedburgh ( Castlegate) Cemetery.
