Private Walder Brunton

Private Walder Brunton, 2nd Battalion, Cameron Highlanders. He died on Active Service at Salonica, aged 26, on the 2nd October 1918. He had been born in Jedburgh and was the son of Betsy and the late Ormiston Brunton of The Bow and 18 Castlegate, Jedburgh. Before enlisting he had been employed at Allars Mill in Jedburgh. He went with his battalion to Salonica but fell ill with influenza and died in the 80th General Hospital at Kirechkoi. He is buried in Kirechoi-Hortakoi Military Cemetery, Greece. ( His brother John also died during the War – see below ).
