Private Thomas Turnbull, 75th ( Mississauga ) Battalion, Canadian Infantry. He was killed in action in France, aged 20, on the 28th April 1918 during the German Spring offensives. He had been born in Edinburgh and was the son of the late Robert and Catherine Turnbull. Many of his relations lived in Jedburgh and they were named in his Will. He had been living in Toronto and working as a labourer when he enlisted in November 1916 arriving in France in June 1917. He is commemorated on the Vimy Memorial, France. He fell in a raid on the German trenches opposite the Battalion positions.
