Private Peter Sinton

Private Peter Sinton, Irish Guards. He died from T.B., aged 25, in the Anderson Sanitorium in Hawick on the 18th December 1916. He had been born in Jedburgh and was the son of the late Helen Scott and Grandson of Robert and Margaret Sinton of Bonjedward, Jedburgh. He was a journeyman gardener but before enlisting he had worked in the Rosyth Dockyard. He enlisted in the 1st Irish Guards in November 1914  but was discharged from the Army in February 1916 due to illness. He is buried in Castlegate Cemetery, Jedburgh.
