Private James Cassie, Scots Guards. He died on Service, aged 24, on the 25th January 1915 whilst in training. He had been born in Ledgerwood, Berwickshire and was the son of John and Mary Cassie of Forest Road, Selkirk. since 1911 he had been a constable in the Roxburghshire Constabulary and had been based in Jedburgh. He had been granted permission to enlist in October 1914 and was in training at Caterham, Surrey when he became ill and died. He is buried in Selkirk Cemetery.
